Dobry vecher! So the first week of school is out of the way and my Blog returns from it’s summer hibernation. It’s been a pretty hectic week with me running back and forth between West and Central. Especially since it’s super hot up here. It’s killer when I’m all sweaty from Movement already and then have a 20 minute walk across campus. I feel bad for people who sit near me in Geography (like Carlin). It also makes me really sore.
My 300 level classes will definitely be a lot of work. They both have a lot of papers and tests that occur on the same weeks. I already have my research paper for China for the one book that hasn’t come in yet. I still have to find at least three primary sources for it too. Luckily, or unluckily depending on your point of view, other than the book it’s open topic. So I’ll probably do it on military history during one of the dynasties. I’ll know more when I actually get the book.
Geography is easy, luckily. It is a 100 level so it makes sense. The only problem is dumb freshmen. But there’s no papers and just a couple of tests. Stage Movement is pretty good so far too. We did this cool thing about concentrating our chakra, which strengthens our movements and stances. There’s a lot of stuff I can’t do with one arm though. At least Andrea is really understanding. Stage Speech is pretty good too, though we haven’t done much in those classes.
The room is totally set up now. We’ve got everything organized and I’ve even hung up my Chinese lanterns in the window. The door’s also all set up and we’ve already gotten a bunch of compliments, especially our Dr. Who picture. The pic has made us start calling the room the TARDUS. And the bathroom is Narnia. Yes, we are major nerds. We also fangirled over our Lord of the Rings plushies for like 30 minutes after we got them.
So tomorrow we have to go shopping. Carlin needs school supplies and I need clothes for Movement. I’ll also have to do a bunch of reading for Russia. Seegel’s teaching us some Russian in there, so I’ll know a few phrases by the time the course is over. So far I can say: Good Morning, Good Day, Good Afternoon, Moscow, and Can I Have More Vodka? I can also say: Good Morning and You Must Be Very Tired in Japanese. And I can pronounce words in Chinese correctly. I’m getting such a fabulous education. And with things that aren’t the point of the classes. College is awesome.
